Many of you have probably seen this poem before, but I love it...and I thought it appropriate to post it for Mothers Day.
To all you mums, I know you'll nod your head at one, or all, of the lines in this poem.
To my friends who are currently trying to make the move into motherhood, I say 'hang in there. It may take a while...it could take longer than you expect...but when it happens, all that time (whether it have been months or years) will have been worth it.' I'll be thinking of you and looking forward to the day when Mothers Day is also a celebration for you.
Before I was a Mum
Before I was a Mum
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mum
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunisations.
Before I was a Mum
I had never been puked on - pooped on - spit on - chewed on, or peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mum
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mum
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mum.
Before I was a Mum
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mum
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mum.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much...before I was a Mum.

What a beautiful photo of yoru girls. I really love the color of your walls.. (we have been trying to find one similar...) did you paint them yourselves? Would you mind sharing?
Yep, my husband is the painting king...the basic wall colour (which the TV sits on)is China White and the feature wall (where the painting is) is Dulux Fudge. We think they work well together...
That's a lovely poem. My heart is definitely outside my body now.
So sweet :-) Here's my contribution to the world of poetry:
Before I was a Mum
Poems didn't make me say "Awwww!"
and feel like a big softie.
I've never read this poem before, it is so true and what a beautiful photo of you and your girls, with big sis reaching out to her little sis, and don't they just love their mum.
