I don't think he's that grea, either, but having had FAR too many conversations with other girls my age about this, I can tell you what the appeal is. He's Edward. Edward is like, totally swoon-worthy. Someone who is like, totally swoon-worthy must be hot. Ergo, Robert Pattison must be deemed hot, or he wouldn't be a good Edward.
Flaws in this argument: Edward is NOT like, totally swoon-worthy. Having a boyfriend that over-protective would be unbelievably irritating.
Robert Pattison is not hot, and Imagination Edward is way, way hotter than him. Also, he's not a great actor, and is therefore not a good Edward, due to slight lack of acting ability. However, it's a definite improvement on the Zac Efron craze.
I'd like to add myself to the list of people agreeing with you that he is not hot in the slightest :-)

nope, I don't get it either - not at all hot. If it weren't for Twilight I wouldn't know who he was and I'm not the slightest bit interested in Twilight (sorry Twi-hards) - but you can't avoid it, it's everywhere. Much like High School Musical was. *sigh* I'm obviously getting old.

Saw him on Letterman one night and he was so proud of himself because he hadn't washed his hair for weeks. As if you wouldn't notice! Not too keen on baths/showers either he said. Yuk!!!
